One of the largest Turkish e-commerce companies had confirmed plans to launch in Ukraine. In a January 7 interview with Bloomberg, Hepsiburada CEO Nilhan Onal Gokcetekin said the company is ready to begin large-scale Ukrainian sales if an initial trial run proves successful.

The Hepsiburada chief executive said her company is not deterred by the wartime conditions in the country or the threat posed by Russia’s ongoing invasion. “This is a strategic investment for us,” Onal commented. “In the future, Ukraine will normalize and we want to be ready. Ukraine is a difficult but important market for Türkiye.”

According to Onal, Ukraine currently offers a range of potentially interesting e-commerce growth opportunities due to the challenges residents of the war-torn country face in accessing goods domestically, together with logistical issues connected to cross-border shipments.
