A new CNN report published on September 7 claims Elon Musk secretly ordered employees to turn off his company’s Starlink satellite communications network near the Crimean coast last year to disrupt a Ukrainian drone attack on the Russian Black Sea Fleet on Russian-occupied Crimea.
The report is based on an excerpt adapted from Walter Isaacson’s new biography of the eccentric billionaire titled “Elon Musk.” It raises a number of issues regarding the tech tycoon’s influence over Ukraine’s war effort and ability to disrupt efforts to counter Russia’s ongoing invasion.
According to the report, Ukrainian Minister for Digital Transformation Mykhailo Fedorov appealed directly to Musk, calling on him to restore connectivity to the marine drones.
